PX Slaves won't die

RedHat 6.1 Oracle 8.1.5.0.2

My parallel execution slaves don't seem to want to die, even though I have parallel_min_servers = 0.

When I query v$px_process , it shows P001-P004 have status "In use". But they don't seem to use any CPU time when I run top. Moreover, when I look up their query coordinater master session in v$px_session and then v$sessions I find that the parent sid shows "inactive" status.

Several hours later everything is unchanged. I ran all queries from a separate account.

What can I do? How do I kill my undead zombie slaves?
