Thank the Lord I'm not a woman, otherwise I might possibly have been offended by your very first word! (Hint: gender neutral at all times, and don't try and be funny about *anything*.)
To the issue at hand: yes, it is possible to get data out of an 8i database and into an 8 database, provided that the dump file you create is an *8* dump file, not an 8i one. The key to pulling that little trick off is to make sure you run the original export against the 8i database using the version 8 export executable.
After that, it's all plain sailing -except that if your 8i database uses any of the new features in 8i (things like locally managed tablespaces, function-based indexes etc etc), you can expect duff results at best, and fireworks at worst.
