But this approach wouldnt work for me with my need to be able to monitor the SQL generated by a standalone, one-shot (ie. it runs, gets data from the database, and ends) console program like the one I have to analyse....would it??

Apologies in advance if this is a stupid question, but as the title says this is all deep and murky water to me :-)
