Hah! I wish.

Fact is:

• Managers nowadays don't give a hoot about training developers in more advanced techniques (such as knowing how to spell the name of the product they are using...). It's much more PC to hire an el-cheapo 3rd-world developer and show a nice bottom line as a result. Never mind what bang-4-$ they're getting off the el-cheapo...
• Developers know this. therefore they don't bother learning anything themselves. All they have to do is mask their lack of knowledge behind some obscure code or just produce reams and reams of "documentation" that nobody in their right minds would read. And life will go on.
