If you wander through they have a UDBC software development kit.

i.e. C based shared libraries you can use to write your own client app.

They also have/did enlighted usage policy on their drivers, free for limited use (number of connections).

Works on solaris 2.6 with 8.0.5 for sure :>)

Not that any of this seems to particularly fussy about the OS release.
