There is a few of information about RAID-5 and Oracle on metalink too, but it often contains wrong statements.

I agree with Ender wiil be better use RAID-10 than RAID-5 but you need more than 5 disks. To increase write speed on RAID-5 you can turn on write-back cache if this one has a battery-backup. And of course, you should place redo logs on RAID-1.
