Just confirming, yet another failure :) I was not able to get Oracle 8.1.6.1.0 EE going on RedHat 7.0 (x86). I have even upgraded the glibc to the latest releases post RedHat 7.0

The installation went just fine including the linking. However, the database creation kept failing.

  1. Using the dbassist (Java Gui d/b creation) it got stuck at 2%, 47% and 80% on 3 tries.
  2. Asking the installer to write to a shell script and then running it did not work either.

I got a lot of core-dumps in $ORACLE_HOME/dbs/core*/*
