8i install with msvcrt.dll

I downloaded 8i enterprise edition for windows nt from technet.

I started the install and immediately got the error that it couldn't write the msvcrt.dll file into the winnt directory.

My question goes like this:

I ignored the error and let Oracle continue the install.     Everything else happened successfully. Does anybody know     whether I can just ignore this early error, or will I run     across issues down the road?

I also searched on dejanews and found two threads that looked promising but I couldn't find the threads in this newsgroup. I will cite them below. Maybe they will help jog someone's memory. David P. and Sybrand Bakker where the two posters of answers.

Thanks

| There's a Year 2000 bug in some installer programs manufactured a few
| months ago. I met an error message which mentioned exactly the same DLL
| (MSVCRT.DLL - the MS Visual C Runtime libraries).
|
| The problem was solved thusly :-
|
| Oracle's advice is to download the Y2K compliant installer program from
| their support website ( support.oracle.com leading to the Metalink
| sites).
|
| Therefore, you need a support contract with Oracle or if that is not in
| place, you might have to try and download a recent version of some
| client software of Oracle's, which hopefully will contain a recent
| version of the installer program.
