SYS is the owner of (nearly) all internal tables and packages.

SYSTEM has mainly synonyms and views based on the tables owned by SYS

I think the way Oracle explains it is 'SYS is the database owner, SYSTEM is the database maintainer' Received on Wed Sep 20 2000 - 00:00:00 CDT
