Are you saying that -000004ec and -000004e7 are the tables with the locks on them? Wish that I'd noticed that!

Right, I understand the relationship between the two tables - 1260 is the 'parent' table of 1255... and they do often get updated at the same time and 1260 can also get updated separately by a real-time process. I've just put back a missing index on 1255 for the foreign key to 1260 - I wonder if this will help...
