Oracle 8.1.5 required at least 128MB and rumors always have been that the memory requirements would probably double with the next release. I am not sure what 8.1.6 needs, but your memory usage does not surprise me. I wouldn't worry about it. Some of the Oracle folks were saying that we should expect requirements of 512MB and beyond in the future.
