Checking why oracle stopped

Hi,



Yesterday, my oracle db 8.1.6 crashed on linux, 
but I do not know the reason.  I looked through
some of the log/trc files, but the only


thing I found was PMON stopped due to error 601.
And in the listener log, it just said listener
terminating.  



Can anyone help me to determine where to look
or what could've caused this.  Thanks in advance.
