Seems your situation has more to it than just the scope of the duties. The way you describe it , it seems you're trapped in a job where you have to work hard in order to avoid disaster. The risk of burnout and/or a knife in the back seems realistic. You should take both evasive action and actively form an exit option. To begin with the first one, you can for example make your work transparant concerning the expectations. E.g if somebody gives you a problem, assign a priority nr to it, which has some responsetime attached to it. This may sound sterile, but you must create a situation you can cope with when shit hits the fan. The duty-list with responcetime should be presented to your boss, so he will be 'guilty' too if the problems begin. Of course, looking at your list he can disagree with your responcetimes , so you'll save yourself a lot of trouble in the first place.
About the exit option... you won't need my advice ;-) network network ! Received on Mon Aug 07 2000 - 00:00:00 CDT
