Then having reached no agreement and found nothing in the documentation, they'll refer the problem to the senior DBA. One of the designer/developers will suggest the whole thing be replaced by a PL/SQL stored procedure. But the C guy will say that PRO*C or OCI should be used with the array interface to speed up the insertion of the light bulb.

In the meantime, the old hand DBA will just rip a light bulb from another socket and stick it in this one...
