Then having reached no agreement and found nothing in the documentation, they'll refer the problem to the senior DBA. The senior DBA will call his friends to ask what make of light bulb should be used and which ones are 100% compatible.

One of the designer/developers will suggest the whole thing be replaced by a PL/SQL stored procedure. But the C guy will say that PRO*C or OCI should be used with the array interface to speed up the insertion of the light bulb.

In the meantime, the old hand DBA will just rip a light bulb from another socket and stick it in this one...
