How in God's name do you get sixty THREE Mb of RAM????!!

Anyway: rest assured, it's not the Celeron processor. I had 8i Enterprise Edition running on Windows 2000, Celeron 333, 128Mb RAM for ages until I upgraded to a Pentium III.

63Mb (despite the odd non-binary number) is really too low, though whether it's technically below the limit or not, I haven't a clue. If you've created the standard starter ORCL database, be aware that Oracle gives it a java pool of (I seem to recall) 20Mb by default-and all of that is on top of the SGA etc. You should try editing the init.ora for your Instance, and set java pool to 1Mb (I have found it impossible to set it to zero, and 1Mb seems to be the minimum workable).

Also, check the rest of your init.ora for shared_pool_size, and db_block_buffers: with your memory resources, you don't want these to be as big as the default installation gives you.
