hello all,

I happen to have stumbled upon a news article of IBM, at http://biz.yahoo.com/bw/000729/ny_ibm_sof.html and am very concerned of the statements there, particularly,

"IBM, Intel and Microsoft recently announced the world's fastest server, recording performance levels that triple the results of Oracle running on a Sun Microsystems cluster, at one-third the price. IBM Netfinity and DB2 Universal Database, IntelĀ® PentiumĀ® III Xeon(TM) Processors, and Microsoft's Windows 2000 Delivered 440,879 Transactions Per Minute."

What the heck are they talking about!?!?! I know that most of these tests are rigged etc etc but to say that they three times as fast at one third in price, that's a bit hard to swallow.....!?!? Am I misreading that article!?

Is this true? and if so, how does Oracle plan to respond?

thanks much,

Cosmin
