Hi,

When atempting to log in to the EM for our new installation of Oracle8i, I get the following error message:

VTK-1000 unable to connect to Management Server (insert IP addr here) Please verify you have given the correct name and status of the Oracle Management Server

Log in details: I'm attempting to log in with the out-of-the-box Administrator user name and pwd (ie. sysman / oem_temp)

Server: I added the host using the hostname (the same host name that I use, and that works, when logging into an individual DB - only here I don't include the port no.) - it then resolves this to an IP addr

If I change the username or pwd or enter a host that doesn't have Oracle installed, I still get the same error message. So I suspect that it can't see the database server at all. When I add the port number to the hostname it says it won't accept the : colon.

Is my set up dodgy? I am doing something really stupid? Please help me............. please!

TIA,
