Good PL/SQL debugger ?

Anyone have any advice on good PL/SQL debugger that allows you to step into nested procedures and still expose local and global variables ? Have tried PL/SQL Developer from www.allroundautomations with some success but usually find that the debug session on the client loses communication with the package or procedure and ends up locking the package.

Also tried SQL Navigator with similar problems.

Don't want to have to buy Oracle's Application Developer toolkit just to get their debugger.
Anyone using commercial TOAD for PL/SQL de-bugging?

O8.1.6. on DEC Alpha 8400 machine.

Tnx
