Newbie Question - constrain input info

Help! i need to write a script that creates a table (no prob), but one column (car_size) needs to accept only 'small', 'medium', or 'large'. i'm guessing it's a "where car_size = small" kind of thing, but i can't find the snytax in any of my books.
