The next limit is usally 2 GB, the limit in size for a single file of lot's of filesystems.

Only after all that, the Oracle limits will be reached. As far as I remember from memory, Oracle can manage about 4,000,000 blocks per datafile. so the maximum datafile size depends on the DB_BLOCK_SIZE. With 2k you will get a maximum of 8 GB per datafile, with 4k the maximum will be around 16 GB and so on.
