Help - dbstart script does not work!

I installed Oracle 8.1.6 v2 for Solaris (32 bit)



The "dbstart" script does not work. When I run it, I get a message that
says ' "dev1" warm started ', but in fact, the instance is not started
at all. (The dbshut script is working ok)



Has anyone else had this problem and how did you resolve it? Is it a
bug?
