How does one exp/imp of table into a different table in the same schema?

I am sure it could be something simple, but I just can't figure it out. I need to keep the old table for now b/c it's used in production. Create table as select also is not a great idea, since the table is 50000000 records.

We use Oracle 7.3.4 and 8.1.6 on Solaris 2.6, 2.7 boxes
