RMAN reliability

Hello Everyone,

We are planning to implement hot backups using RMAN with Oracle 8.0.4 and 8.0.5 databases. The database sizes range from 10G to 200G..

Talking to some people we got the impression that RMAN in 8.0.4/8.0.5 is buggy and not very reliable..Does anyone have experience with RMAN 8.0.4/8.0.5.

Can we rely on the backup and recovery capabilities of RMAN for the above mentioned database sizes ?

Any thoughts and comments will be appreciated..Thanks in advance...
