unload regular ascii data

hi,
i'm new to the oracle world (just switch over from informix), there is a very simple command in informix 'unload' that grab any data selected by your query and unloads it into a file on your current directory.
is there a similliar command in oracale? i'm using oracle8i on a sun solaris sprac machine
