Does anyone know how much takes for Database Configuration Assistant on
Oracle8i EE Release 2 for Linux to create a typical starter databse?
I have Red Hat 6.1 and I tried to install Oracle8i EE Release 2 . I choose
Typical Installation and was promised that a pre configured starter
database will be created for me. Unfortunately such a database was not
created at all:(
So I satrted Database Configuration assistant. I choose to create a database
( I tried both options: Typical and custom) but the result was one and the
same:(
It seemed to start Creating and Starting Oracle Instance, but I didn't know
how much should I wait. I spent waiting and watching that process about 20
min., but unfortunately it remained on 1% and I couldn't wait anymore not
knowing if anything is being installed or not. So I Cancel the Configuration
assistant.
Anyone with a similar problem? Any help or comments will be highly appreciated.
Unfortunately Installing Oracle8i Release 1 was also full of problems and BTW I couldn't start Database Assitant in that Release at all!
