Trouble connecting to the database

I run Oracle 8.05 on Windows NT on IPX/SPX network. Everything works fine from the NT platform, I have no trouble connecting to the database; and TNSNAMES and LISTENER seem alright.

But when I set up a remote connection to the Oracle Server from a Windows98 PC, the connection seems to be very erratic. E.g.: I connect on Win98 to the server via SQL Plus on the internal account, but it works only one time out of three (when it fails it gives me a TNS: No listener error!). And if I try to connect on another user account, it won't even connect. Now TNSNAMES on the Win98 PC seems to be set up alright too; so I really don't understand what is going on.

I'd be glad if anyone knows what to do.
