Watch out for the java_pool_size -you get a huge one by default, and chances are you barely need one, at least to start with!

However (as I have just found out on the new 8i Backup and Recovery course in NSW to my cost) 8i is a huge, resource-hungry beast! If you only have 128Mb of RAM, you can reasonably have 1 instance/database, but 2 is pushing it, and 3 is a big no-no.
