JDBC Performance

I have developed a java application using Oracle's JDBC type 4 driver. The application runs on a Win95 workstation and connects to an Oracle database on a server on the local LAN backbone. When I start the application, the driver looks at the dial-up adapter first. Why?? The workstation 'host' file has an entry for the server. The host is on the same subnet as the workstation so a gateway entry is not necessary. The database server is also the DNS server. So, why is the driver looking at the dial-up adapter first? What did I miss in my TCPIP configuration? TIA...... Len Received on Tue Jun 13 2000 - 00:00:00 CDT
