Problem installing Oracle 8.0.5

Hello,

I am trying to install an Oracle 8.0.5 for the Openview. I followed every single steps on the installation guide which come with the Oracle CDs. When I started running 'orainst /c' after all env variable had been set, it hung! I also tried to use 'sh -x orainst /c' to see where it stopped, I found that this script hung after orainst.cm started. Then, it could not be killed.

Another interesting thing, when I mounted the CDROM by using 'mount -F cdfs -o cdcase /dev/.... ' instead of using pfs_mount which is specified by the installation guide, the installation session can be brought out. But since the file system was not correct, it led to another issue. All files without extension would have a dot after them which makes installation failed again. Does it imply anything?

Please help.

Regards,
