That really is interesting. Why run two listeners? Unless your 7.x databases are being used by some application which is incompatible with an 8i listener (like release 10.7 of Oracle Applications), you can run just the 8.1 listener for both databases. We currently have instances of versions 7.3.4, 8.0.4, and 8.0.5 all using the single listener from the 8.0.5 Oracle Home.
