how much has to be created in new db?

I have just installed Oracle 8i on Netware 5.  I am just learning Oracle.



I have created a new database and ran catalog.sql and catproc.sql.
I have a book that talks about creating a rollback segment, rollback
tablespace, temporary tablespace, and then modifying the SYSTEM and SYS
accounts default and temporary tablespaces.



Are these steps that you do as well on each database or are they overkill?
