Hi Steve:

    I have to disagree. With 8.1.5 and 8.1.6 the database creation assistant allows you to edit quite a few settings for your sample database (named whatever you want) as well as choose where your datafiles will go and what they'll be named. The assistant takes care of a great deal of housekeeping and minor script running. When it is finished you have a running database that can be modified in whatever way you wish - more tablespaces added, init.ora parameters changed, etc. etc.

    We create all our databases with the assistant these days then modify them afterwards. It saves us more than half the time it takes to create one by hand.
