Replication via Internet

Morning all!

I'm thinking of setting up an 8i Server with some little Oracle 8i Lite "satellites". There'd be replication going on, and I'm wondering about doing this over the internet using the HTTP syncronisation facilities that Oracle are touting. I understand that I'd have to also set up Oracle Application Server. So the seemingly simple question (to which the TechNet doesn't seem to have the answer) is basically, "What about security?" I'd assume that HTTPS / SSL would be the answer, but does the replication technology (iConnect?) support this? Does anyone have any other options? I'm also thinking about a VPN option, but if I go that far then I may as well do a synchronous connect via SQL*NET, right?

If anybody knows...

Cheers,
Mike W-M
