Not sure what to try on this one apart from tuning the database in general. It should be faster than this. One thing to check (now that I think of it) - are you running this direct from an interactive session on the server? If so, I'd check to see what the foreground task boost is (if it's called that). NT should be set so that it doesn't give your session preferance over remote users...

Of course that may not be the problem - but it's worth a check. I think this setting is under control panel, in the "system" applet.

Next step is to tune your server I think... Check for paging, disk contention at the OS level, then examine Oracle stats I guess.
