Backup

Hello,

We are using an Oracle 8.05 Server on NT Server, which is backed up every night. The backup tool (backup exec, Seagate) does also do a backup of the database files.
In the logfile for the backup though it says that the main Oracle files have been active, but have still been backed up. Since the database is not operating in archive mode, I was wondering, whether the database files
really are backed up and can be used after system-failure or if Backup exec just cannot tell and the databse needs to be shut down.

Thanks in advance
