Where is the BEQ protocol in the NET8 Assistant

I just installed Oracle 8i (8.1.6) standard and can't find the BEQ protocol in the net8 assistance. The application and the database reside in the same machine and there is no need to use a listener for this.

On Sql Net easy config (Oracle 7.3.4) there is an entry for the BEQ protocol.

Was BEQ protocol removed in oracle 8i?
Which protocol should one use for a local database? IPC?

The Database Configuration Assistance is creating entries in the tnsnames.ora using the TCP/IP protocol. This should not be required for local connections.

Could one create an entry in the tnsnames.ora by hand using the BEQ protocol?
