ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel

Hi Everybody !

There are some threads about this problem, but none of them really helps me.

Here is our configuration:
- Oracle Server 8.0.4 on WinNT4 SP6 server (Production Server, "big"
network: about 250 PC's, many server's (NT, NW), many switches and hubs, also 4 user's connecting via ISDN WAN to the Oracle server).
- Oracle Server 8.0.4 on WinNT4 SP6 server (Test Server, small network: 4
PC's, 1 hub)
- WinNT4 SP6 workstations using Oracle Net8 Client 8.0.5

• Win98/SE notebook using Oracle Net8 Client from Oracle 8i, 8.1.5

This error only occurs when using the Win98/SE machine connected to the production server. The centua app (CTD 1.1.2-PTF8) is able to connect and issue some initial SQL statements (this is done automatically by the app to get some initial settings). As soon as the user tries to query the database, the error occurs.
The same happens with the ODBC-Test-App from the Oracle Net8 Client software. The test app can connect, if you are fast enough to issue a select (i.e. paste and execute immediatelly after starting) it works. If you are not fast enough or wait some time (about 10-20 seconds) the SELECT will fail with ORA-03113 error.

This error does not occur when
- using the same Win98/SE client machine connected to the Oracle test
server.
- using the WinNT client connected to both the production and the test
server.

IMHO, the error is not related to
- Centura's SQLRouter/Oracle, because the error also occurs using Oracle's
ODBC test app.
- The production server, because it works without problems with all other
clients.
- The Win98/SE client, because its works without problems with the test
server.

Any ideas what may cause the error ?
