NLS_DATE_FORMAT on server - 8.1.5

I just updated by server ( Netware) to Oracle 8.1.5 and, after a few hiccups, all went well; I cannot, however, seen to set the NLS_DATE_FORMAT for the database...

Mt init<sid>.ora file ( the one in the pfile directory called by the one in the database directory ) has
NLS_DATE_FORMAT = "DD-MON-YYYY" Yet when I do a select sysdate from dual ( at the console with svrmgr31) I get 15-MAY-00 I removed, at Oracle Tech's suggestion, all NLS_ references in the config.ora file, but It didn't help...

any Ideas ?

Thanks,
