Tkprof Core Dump with "explain"

Tkprof core dumps when I set use the "explain" parameter. Has anyone got past this problem? I'm running 8.1.5 with Linux RH6.1

Example offending command:

   tkprof ora_23407.trc tkprof23407.txt
   table=LIN.Y_PROF
   explain=TOAD.TOAD_PLAN_TABLE

Metalink describes a similar problem with version 7 on Solaris, but nothing on linux. Any suggestions?
