it depends on your os, your shell, and your X-windows environment.

for me, start eXceed (X-Windows server) on my NT pc obtain the ip address for the X-Windows server (e.g. 127.0.0.1)

then the unix shell prompt:

export DISPLAY=127.0.0.1:0
dbassist
