same sql code, different explain?

Hello:

One of the develepors fr our application said he ran explain for sqlcode and got different explain output now than he did two weeks ago in production.

As far as I know, there have been no database chnages, no init.ora chanegs and the time span is only two wweks before the first time the sqlcode was run and now. From the counts of certain tables that I mantian, I know that there has nor been significant data added. I will check the code and the two sets of explain output but I have ben wondering......

He insists it is the exact same code -- I was leaving yesterday and did not have time to check it nor to see the explain output .

So if it is the exact same code, what would account for different explain output?

Does any one have any ideas?
