Hi Sybrand

Thanks for responding so fast, yes that does clear it when i rename the sid directory.

The wizard gives the option of creating a batch file instead of creating the database immediately.

It uses SET ORACLE_SID=xxxx

and uses ORADIM to set some stuff (will have to look this up) (?assume this is NT only?)
then executes the scripts to start/nomount and create database + options

I hope this info helps anyone else trying to do the same as me.

Now i really do wish for Unix again!!
