Install 8.1.6 in a new Oracle home. Pre-create a new database skeleton with your tablespaces etc in the 8.1.6 version. Then export the data from 8.1.5 and import it into the 8.1.6 database. That way if you have any serious problems with 8.1.6 you can quickly get back to 8.1.5.
