DB_BLOCK_SIZE for WinNT4

As a DBA I have mostly worked on systems which were UNIX based and for the most part I have always recommended a DB_BLOCK_SIZE of 4096 for moderate-sized systems. I'm now starting to work with some Oracle 8 databases on WinNT4 and one of my co-workers has said that his understanding is that 2048 is often a better choice on NT. Is this true? Would database performance be degraded if the database were recreated using 4096?

I have several good books on tuning oracle for UNIX. Does anyone know of any titles which specifically address tuning of Oracle 8 and 8i on NT systems? Received on Tue Apr 18 2000 - 00:00:00 CDT
