Performance statistics related to listener.get_cmd

I have an application that uses the Context cartridge. I noticed that the majority of the buffer_gets listed in v$sqlarea, about 12% of the total buffer gets, come from one statement that starts with "BEGIN listener.get_cmd". The package body is compressed/wrapped. It appears in the "CTXSYS" user schema.

Does anyone know what this procedure is used for? Is this normal for the Context cartridge? Can this be tuned?

Thanks for any help,
Dan
