Delete archived redo logs after a backup has started - not a good idea.

Wait til the backup has finished!

Then make sure you've successfully moved the backed-up files to a separate physical location.

Las but not least, delete old archived logs older than a DBVERIFIED complete offline (or online if you want (need ARCHIVELOG)) backup.
