Oracle8i won't startup if reboot

Hi fellows,

I guess I successfully installed Oracle8i on RedHat 6.1. Everything seems working right after the database creation finished. (sqlplus, svrmgrl, lisnrctl....etc)
I can startup or shutdown the database or do a query using sqlplus.

However, after I reboot the machine, and trying to STARTUP under svrmgrl.
It tells me "failure to connect to database", with some weird Germany like words that I don't understand.
Moreover, when I tried to run dbassist &, it says "ORACLE is not available"
The UNIX environment is the same before I reboot it.

Is there anyone could help me with this issue? Would appreciate it!
Thanks!

Eric Cheng
