The example provided of the husband-wife is completely FALSE and MISLEADING. It is NOT what ORACLE does.

Cripes, what a load of rubbish. When a design decision has been taken because it's too hard to write the appropriate code, let's resort to the "engine knows better" explanation. Gives it the "aura" of mistery all ignorants like.

EXACTLY what Ingres used to explain their half-baked row-locking design. Which never worked.

Why did I bother? I KNEW I was wasting my time...
