SunOS 5.8 = Solaris 2.8 = Solaris 8 ... basically different names for the same rev.
I believe you will need to get Oracle 816, which is certified to run with the release you have on your Sun box. I pressume what you have right now is Oracle 815, which may or may not work with SunOS 5.8
