We do consolidation too and from what I've seen, if you don't close the cursors and threads properly, there is a lot of CPU utilization. When you run the procedure for the second time, the threads and/or cursors for the first run are still open and holding resources.

Subject: CPU Utilization
We have a problem with an application that uses PL/SQL to perform a
database
consolidation procedure. We notice that the first time we run this
procedure, the CPU utlilization pretty much stays between 5 and
25%.....(even if this is run on TWO workstations at one time)....now, if
we
run that a second time....CPU Utilization shoots up to 100% for long
periods.....
Has anyone seen anything remotely like this??? ANY imput would be helpful....
Thank You.
